So I just got home from the Christmas concert for one of my kindergartens. All and all it was really fun this year compared to last years concert. This year I had more of an idea what was going on and there wasn't as much confusion on my part, which wasn't completely my fault since no one really instructed me last year. The middle aged kids(4-5) sang Row Row Row Your Boat, and My Meadow. The older kids (5-6) sang I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Joy to The World, Country Roads, and Pack of Lies.
The kids seemed to really enjoy it. There was one exception though. A little girl probably didn't have as much fun as the rest of the kids because as soon as she got on stage and they started singing their Japanese song she threw up all over the place. Thus, leading into my problem with these types of programs here that each school does over the course of a year. Each school does three to four musical programs for a grand total of 9 to 12 music programs all year. Which is kind of a lot if you think about how many you did while you were in school. My problem isn't with how many its the complexity of the music the kids end up playing. The teachers pick songs for them to play and its not simple things like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, or Jingle Bells. They choose Mozart, Beethoven, John Williams, and so on and so forth for the kids to learn how to play for the middle and oldest classes. Those songs aren't for the youngest group(3-4) but they still play some complicated songs for their age. Which I think puts a lot of stress on kids. Also they practice these songs so much. Out of a 6 hour school day I would say they practice close to two hours sometimes especially the closer it got to the festivals.
But aside from all the stress like I said I think the majority of the kids had fun and were relieved it was over. I had fun too.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures this year because I was part of the program and Amber had to work.
